How to Use the Q-SYS Touch Panel in a Trimodal Room
The purpose of this article is to explain the use of the Q-SYS Touch Panel in newer COL Trimodal rooms.
Important: Some rooms use Crestron Touch Panels. For information on operating these panels, visit this link. For Q-SYS panels in non-Trimodal rooms, visit this link.
Turning the System On or Off
To turn the Q-SYS system on:
If the screen is blank, touch it once to wake it up. Touch the button on the bottom of the Touch Panel's screen to turn on the system. It may take several seconds; when the progress bar vanishes, the system is ready to use.
To turn the Q-SYS system off:
Touch the red "End Lecture" button, and then touch "Proceed".
Selecting the Input Source
You must select the Input Source on the Touch Panel in order to present the proper device to the room; the "Instructor PC" selection is made automatically when the system is first turned on. When you select a source, the projector and rear monitor screens change to match the input selection. If you select Zoom, a page for a secondary source selection will appear. Select the secondary source you want to be streamed into Zoom. If you do not want to use Zoom, select the in the upper-right of the display to return to the main controls.
The monitors at the Instructor's Desk will also change depending on the source selection.
Tip: The ViewSonic monitor cannot be interacted with if any source other than "Zoom" is selected.
Accessing Zoom Meeting Controls
Unlike Crestron rooms, Zoom functions in Q-SYS rooms are controlled from a separate monitor, labelled "ViewSonic" and located to the right of the Wacom Cintiq display. This monitor is touch-sensitive; you should make selections on the display, and not on any other input area. To view the Zoom controls on the screen, touch the "Zoom" button on the Q-SYS touch panel. The Zoom controls will then appear on the ViewSonic monitor. If the controls do not appear, you may have to touch the monitor once to cause the controls to appear.
Important: Don't use the Wacom stylus to make selections on the ViewSonic monitor.
Visit this article for more information on controlling Zoom functions.
Adjusting the System Volume
To adjust the volume of the room speakers, use the slider on the Touch Panel's upper left. Moving the dot to the left will lower the volume, and moving the dot to the right will raise the volume. Tapping the blue speaker icon will mute or unmute the room speakers.
Other Features of the Q-SYS Touch Panel
Muting and Un-Muting The Projector and Rear Monitor
You can mute the projector or rear monitor at any time, which causes them to display a black screen instead of the contents from the Input Source. To do so, touch the rectangle on the right side of the Touch Panel display matching the source you want to mute. The text will change from "ACTIVE" to "MUTE", and the screen or projector will show only black. To unmute, touch the box again so that "ACTIVE" displays.
Tip: The rear monitor is labelled "Confidence" on the Touch Panel.
Important: This muting either or both displays does not prevent the COL system from capturing video. Do not display sensitive information on a computer connected to the Crestron system.
Service Menu
The Service Menu is accessed by a button, and is for staff use only. If this button is pressed by accident, press it again to close the passcode prompt.
