How to Call the Operations Center Using the Classroom Phone

How to Call the Operations Center using the Classroom Phone

This guide explains how to use a classroom telephone to contact the Course On Line (COL) Operations Center.

COL Classrooms have either legacy Cisco IP phones or newer AudioCodes Teams phones. The University is gradually replacing all Cisco phones with AudioCodes phones, which are integrated with Microsoft Teams. These new phones allow you to call the Teams accounts of other people at the University.

Note: Some phones may look different from the ones shown in the illustrations but should function in the same way.

Using the AudioCodes Teams Phone

AudioCodes Teams phones are the newest phones at the University and are directly connected to the Microsoft Teams platform.

To make a call using an AudioCodes Teams phone:

1. Dial COL Classroom Support at 2-6200.

2. Pick up the handset, or leave it in place to use the speakerphone.

3. Press the CALL softkey to start the call.

Using the Cisco IP Phone

Some classrooms still have older Cisco IP phones, which are not integrated with Microsoft Teams.

To make a call using a Cisco IP phone:

1. Dial 2-6259.

2. Pick up the handset, or press the SPEAKER button to use the speakerphone.

As of August 14, 2024, Daley (14 E Jackson) rooms 207, 214, and 505 retain Cisco phones; CDM 212 has no working phone. All other rooms have Teams phones.
