We're updating BlueKey usernames and BlueM@il email display names to create a more natural and user-friendly experience in everyday communication. This change improves functionality across apps within our Microsoft 365 platform and also helps improve clarity and approachability across internal and external messages. The update will be changing the display of our names from LastName, FirstName to FirstName LastName (eg. Doe, John to John Doe). Because of this change you will notice some changes in some applications like Microsoft Outlook and Teams. Due to the number of users and time it takes to change all of the names you may see some users with FirstName LastName while others are still displayed LastName, FirstName. Also, you may not see the change immediately depending on the application/service; it may require a log off/on for the change to take full effect.
In Outlook items group by conversation will remain grouped together, however you will see the name changed in the grouped emails. For users not using conversation view you will see the names changed. If you sort messages by From there will be 2 different groups of messages for a person, one group Doe, John the other John Doe. The best way to find messages would be to search using their email address (from:jdoe@depaul.edu).
In Teams there will be no major change. Current 1 on 1 chats will remain; the name will just be changed to the new format. The same will apply for messages in channels.
