DePaul Information Services provides email filtering to help keep malicious content and spam out of your Inbox. You may not always agree with the action the filtering system took on a particular message. To adjust how messages are handled for you, you can customize your settings to Allow or Block certain senders or domains.
If you wish to allow certain emails to bypass your Junk Email folder and be delivered to your Inbox instead, you may add them to your Safe Senders list.

If you wish to block certain emails from reaching your Inbox and have them delivered to your Junk Email folder instead, you may add them to your Blocked Senders list.
Alternatively, block the sender of a specific message you received: right-click the email, select Junk, and select Block Sender. This will add the email address to your Blocked Senders list.
Or for individual messages, you can right-click on a message and select "Mark as Junk".
Note: Mac users will need to follow the instructions to Add Safe Senders in Outlook on the Web.
There are multiple ways for folders to be created in your mailbox, so it is possible for some users to have more than one Junk E-Mail folder. You can remove any folders you do not want by right clicking the folder and selecting Delete Folder. The Junk Email folder that was created by the system cannot be removed and the option to delete it will be greyed out.
The Outlook for Mac client does not have access to the Junk Mail Preferences. To add or remove safe or blocked senders you must use the directions for Outlook on the Web (OWA) shown above.
Any email known to be malicious, or part of a known phishing campaign, will be automatically deleted by the filter. All other messages are analyzed based on various attributes and details, including the reputation of the sender, the email content, presence of malware, phishing likelihood, and more to assign a score that indicates the likelihood that this email is spam or malware. If the resulting score is too high, the message may land in your Junk Email folder or be blocked. DePaul administrators periodically review and adjust the filter settings to best manage the balance between which emails get delivered (even junk email) vs. which are discarded.
