EndNote Retirement and Alternatives to EndNote

EndNote Retirement

As of June 30, 2023, DePaul University's EndNote license has been retired and is no longer available. Please see below for other options for software.

Alternatives to EndNote

Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share your research sources. It lives right where you do your work—in the web browser itself.    It's also possible to take advantage of the best features of each, or to share Zotero libraries with colleagues using EndNote or vice versa. Both programs can read and write a standard citation file format called RIS, which means references can be converted back and forth. For more information and instructions visit Zotero.

Microsoft Word Citations and Bibliography Tools

Microsoft Word has its own citation and bibliography generation tool.  Although it is not as powerful and flexible as EndNote or Zotero, the fact that it is built right into your word processor makes it easy and convenient to use.
