Overview
You may need to provide your gaming device's MAC address to connect to DePaul's network. Occasionally you may be asked to provide the MAC address of your gaming device to facilitate troubleshooting. These are some steps to obtain the MAC address for some example devices.
Instructions
Microsoft
XBOX One
- Visit the 'Settings' page.
- Select 'Network'.
- Select 'Advanced Settings'.
- The MAC address will be listed on the right hand side of the screen.
Sony (Playstation)
PS5
- Start up your PlayStation 5 without a disk in the drive.
- On the home screen, click on the settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner.
- Select "System".
- Under System Software, select Console Information.
- You will see the MAC addresses for LAN (Ethernet) and Wi-Fi.
PS4
- At the home screen, scroll over to 'Settings'.
- Select 'System'.
- Select 'System Information'.
- Your Wi-Fi MAC address is listed at the bottom.
PS3
- At the home screen, scroll over to 'Settings'.
- Select 'System'.
- Select 'System Information'.
- Your Wi-Fi MAC address is listed at the bottom.
Nintendo
Switch
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down through the menu and select Internet.
- The Nintendo Switch console MAC address will be listed under System MAC Address.
Wii U
- From the Menu, select 'System Settings'.
- Select the 'Internet' icon.
- Scroll down and select the 'View MAC Address' button.
- Your MAC address will be listed here.
Wii
- From the 'Menu', select 'System Settings'.
- Select the 'Internet'.
- Select 'Console Settings'.
- The MAC address is displayed on the first line.
Amazon Echo
The MAC address is also often printed on the device's original packaging.
Using the Alexa app:
- Open the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap the Devices icon in the bottom menu.
- Select Echo & Alexa at the top.
- Choose the specific Echo device you want the MAC address for.
- Tap the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down and tap About to find the MAC address listed.
Roku Devices
You can find a Roku's MAC address by going to Settings > System > About on the device's home screen, which will show the "Wireless MAC address". If you have a wired connection, go to Settings > Network > About and look for the "Ethernet MAC address". You may also find the address physically printed on the device itself, often near the network port.
