The Teaching Commons is a collection of resources on teaching and learning. It is a collaboration between academic partners across the university.
The majority of classrooms at DePaul are technology-equipped classrooms. Specialty rooms, including PC classrooms, exist across the university for classes with specific needs. Additional technology is available upon request. If you experience problems with the technology during your class, press the Classroom Technology Hotline button on the phone next to the podium (or dial extension 2-5900) to speak with a support specialist.
PC classrooms are hybrid computer labs/classrooms that provide the same teaching experience as Technology Equipped Classrooms with the addition of individual computers for each student.
When you print from a lab or classroom computer at DePaul, you will see multiple Intelliprint printer options.
PC classrooms located on the Lincoln Park and Loop campuses can be reserved by going to the room reservation site and following the steps outlined here.
The Ares Automated Reserves System is used by the DePaul Library for managing course reserve materials. This system, which is operated and maintained by the library staff, is designed as an automated workflow to provide fast effective service for faculty and students.
Desire2Learn (D2L) is DePaul's learning management system. Using D2L, instructors can give students online access to course syllabi, assignments, readings, electronic drop boxes, online quizzes, discussion boards, grades, and more.
Digication is DePaul's official ePortfolio platform for students, faculty and staff to showcase and reflect upon their work and ideas. Digication offers an easy-to-use system for documenting learning, discovery, progress, achievement, and reflection. It can also be used for assessment, collaborative projects, teaching resources, and research presentations.
The student-facing app will display content from multiple university resources including campus news, social media accounts and event calendars. It will automatically refresh based on each student's unique interests and preferences.
iClicker is a classroom response system, which can be used to involve students in class activities, assess student learning, or register votes in a departmental meeting. Using a hand-held remote or their own smart device, students can instantly answer questions, provide feedback, or cast their vote. Instructors have the ability to display results in real-time and record responses.
Qualtrics is a robust online research suite, available to all current DePaul students, faculty, and staff. Qualtrics helps you to create, distribute, and analyze online surveys with ease.
Turnitin.com is available to DePaul faculty to verify the originality of students' work. The technology is based on prior submissions to Turnitin as well as public sources against which a student's current submission is compared.
