Passkeys: How to Use a Passkey

Most web-based services and applications that utilize your BlueKey login are compatible with your DePaul passkey. Please note that DePaul passkeys are not usable with all resources and logging into DePaul-owned computers still requires a password.

Authenticator (Device-Bound) Passkey

  1. Click on "Sign-in options".
  2. Select "Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key".
  3. If you used your iPhone, iPad, or Android device, please follow the steps below.
  4. Select "iPhone, iPad, or Android device".
  5. Scan the QR code that appears on the screen.
  6. You will see "Connecting to other device" and then "Device connected! Continue on your device"
  7. On your phone/tablet/etc. select your name/username@depaul.edu option in the Authenticator app.
  8. Enter your pattern, PIN code, face ID, fingerprint, or other authentication method.
  9. You then should be logged into the site.

YubiKey/FIDO2 Passkey

  1. Click on "Sign-in options".
  2. Select "Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key".
  3. Select "Security key".
  4. Your device opens a security window. Insert your FIDO2 security key if it is a USB key, or bring it near the reader if it is an NFC key.
      • Note: If you have more than one passkey affiliated with your FIDO2 security key, you will need to select your DePaul passkey.
    5. Enter your Security Key PIN associated with your FIDO2/YubiKey or scan your fingerprint as prompted.

6. You then should be logged into the site.
