As you will most likely be painfully aware of, anyone with an email address today is receiving an abundance of malicious phishing messages in their inbox. It can sometimes be very difficult to differentiate between malicious links/attachments and important business information. It is critical for us all to be educated and practiced on this issue in order to be able to defend DePaul sensitive information and our own personal information and identity. To this end, Information Services is beginning a new phase of our Security Awareness program.
We are enhancing our Security Awareness program in two ways:
1) We have contracted for Security Awareness videos for all DePaul employees and certain groups of student employees. This training covers a variety of topics that apply not just to computing at work, but also at home. All employees should view the 7 short modules in the section titled "DePaul University Employee Security Awareness Training" and do the interactive scenario practices associated with the modules. There are many other modules available as well for those with interest. We hope you find these informative and helpful.
This training is provided through our Learning Management System at d2l.depaul.edu. Once at the D2L DePaul page, please use your Campus Connect credentials to log in.
2) We will be providing practice for employees in recognizing phishing scams in email by sending periodic emails which mimic the tactics that malicious emails use. If you accidentally click on the links in these emails you will be taken to a page with further tips on recognizing phishing.
If you have any questions on the training or the practice phishing, please call the Help Desk at 312-362-8765 or write to security@depaul.edu.
