Google G-Suite: Frequently Asked Questions

Please note G-Suite is available only for staff and faculty.

Why do I get a prompt saying DePaul is remotely managing my mobile device and may collect my personal data?

As part of our configuration DePaul needs to use a mobile device manager to enforce the policies needed to make G Suite work with your device. DePaul does not access or collect your personal data, however, DePaul does need certain device data in order to associate this device with your account.

When I try to launch Gmail, why do I receive "Login to Gmail has been disabled..."?

Components of the Gmail application are used in our overall email solution, though no Gmail mailboxes are created for you to access. Due to limitations by Google, we cannot hide or remove this icon from the AppLauncher.

When I try to use Vault, why do my searches return zero results?

Components of the Vault application are used in our overall email solution. Access to this application is limited to administrators. Due to limitations by Google, we cannot hide or remove this icon from the AppLauncher.

I'm leaving DePaul, what will happen to my data?

DePaul employees will lose access to their data once their employment ends. Please take all steps to take care of your data before you leave. Save any personal data to another location, or you will lose access to it once you leave. You should also work with your manager or other peers as needed to transfer ownership of any DePaul related data by making someone else the co-owner of that data. If you make someone else the co-owner of data in Drive, when you leave, they will take over ownership of it.
