BlueKey: Seamless Login Experience

Introduction to BlueKey login and multi-factor authentication

Information Services is working to deploy a new seamless and secure login experience for DePaul technology services. This new login experience is called BlueKey.

In order to improve security, BlueKey will be used on more DePaul systems, platforms, and applications in the future. Although this conversion may take some time to adjust for DePaul students, faculty, and staff it will result in fewer logins, fewer login credentials, and greatly enhanced security. Information Services thanks you for your patience as we convert more services to BlueKey.

Forgot your password?

If you have successfully registered for BlueKey multi-factor authentication, you can reset your password without contacting the Help Desk. Find everything you need to know including helpful links, important login changes, and tutorials. Find step-by-step password reset instructions here.

If you have not registered for BlueKey multi-factor authentication, you will need to contact the Help Desk directly at helpdesk@depaul.edu or (312) 362-8765.

What is BlueKey?

BlueKey is two things:

  1. BlueKey login credentials
  2. BlueKey multi-factor authentication

What are BlueKey login credentials?

You will need these credentials to log in to various applications and DePaul systems like Desire2Learn(D2L), Campus Connect, Zoom, and Office 365. Because our transition to BlueKey login is still in progress, most systems will request your email address and password, but some systems may still request your username (the “username” part of your email address) and password.

How do I get my BlueKey login credentials?

You were given a BlueM@il email address (username@depaul.edu) during the orientation/onboarding process. You should have also received an invitation to set your password (via the BlueKey portal) during the orientation/onboarding process. If you do not know one or either of these, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@depaul.edu or call (312) 362-8765.

What is BlueKey multi-factor authentication (MFA)?

Multi-factor authentication adds another layer of authentication in addition to your password. For most DePaul students, faculty, and staff you can set up MFA through the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone.

How do I set up BlueKey MFA?

  1. Navigate on your laptop or desktop web browser to https://bluekey.depaul.edu/multifactor
  2. Login using BlueKey login credentials (username@depaul.edu and password). Follow the steps in the web browser.
  3. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Important Note: Once you have set up MFA, go to the “Security Info” tab on the BlueKey multi-factor site (https://bluekey.depaul.edu/multifactor) on your computer. For best results, please have your “default sign-in method” set to “Microsoft Authenticator - notification”. If you don’t have a mobile phone or the ability to download apps, it is recommended to set your default sign-in method to “Phone – call”.
