Tutorial: Zoom
Zoom is the video conferencing system that DePaul faculty, staff, and students have access to through their Campus Connect credentials. Zoom allows audio/video calls, screen share, poll participants, and more. It can be run from a Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, iPadOS, or Android devices.
Accessing Zoom

Select Join a Meeting to join a meeting someone else created
Select Host a Meeting to create a meeting for others to join
Select Sign In to access the account interface for scheduling meetings in advance and other administrative functions
Hosting a Meeting
Select Host Meeting (top right-hand corner) on the main page after signing in
When prompted, download and run the Zoom installer or let the Zoom application launch:

Select Join with Computer Audio to start the meeting and access meeting controls
Test the audio and video hardware by clicking the Test speaker and microphone link. This conducts a quick test to ensure audio and video hardware is operating correctly.
* Using a camera is OPTIONAL and NOT NECESSARY to host or join a Zoom meeting*
Meeting Controls
Interface once the meeting has started:

1. This is where participants in the meeting will display video and/or audio feeds
2. This is the control bar that allows access to various functions detailed below
Zoom Toolbar Functions
Mute: mutes/unmutes the device's microphone

Start Video: turns the device's camera on/off

Invite: Adds more participants via email
Manage Participants: Opens participant window; allows the host to mute/unmute participants and view the chat window
Share: Allows for screen sharing from the computer or device in use; there is an option to select specific applications or the entire computer/device screen
Chat: Opens chat window to view participants and chat; there are options to chat with Everyone (public) or an individual (private)
Record: Starts/Stops the record function of Zoom; recordings are sent to Zoom service and Zoom will email the host(s) once the recording has been processed. Recording storing location can be changed in program preferences under Recording.
Breakout Rooms: Opens controls for creating breakout rooms for participants to gather in; options to create multiple rooms for participants and assign them automatically or manually are available:
