BitLocker Drive Encryption is a data protection feature available beginning with Windows 7. BitLocker helps mitigate the threats of data theft or exposure from lost or stolen computers by encrypting the data on the disk, so only legitimate users or administrators can access the data.
DePaul will use Microsoft’s BitLocker technology to encrypt the content of your workstation's primary hard disk, which will prevent the theft of data on that disk if the computer is ever lost or stolen. New systems with Windows are encrypted during the imaging process.
Information Services has deployed Microsoft's BitLocker to assist with administering the deployment and management of BitLocker on University systems. Additional details on the BitLocker encryption deployment can be found here.
