Unified Messaging – Office 365/DePaul email and Unity FAQs

The Voicemail system works in conjunction with the email system, providing a single inbox for email and voicemail, accessible through Outlook/Office 365 portal and still allowing access via the phone. These are some general aspects of that integration and some things to keep in mind when using this service.

Question: Are all voicemails delivered to my email inbox as well?

Answer: Voicemails left for your personal DePaul telephone number will be accessible in your DePaul email as well as through your DePaul telephone.  Shared phone lines may also receive voicemails in email format, but will need to have an email resource account configured.  You may place a ticket with the Helpdesk if you would like to inquire about this functionality.

---

Question: I forgot or don't know my voicemail PIN.  How can I reset it?

Answer: Please open a ticket with the Helpdesk to have your voicemail PIN be reset.

---

Question: Are there any limits to the number of voicemails that can be saved?

Answer: There is a voicemail box size limitation of 1 GB. This is an extremely large amount of voicemails and before you reach that limit you will be notified.

---

Question: What happens if I delete a voicemail from my phone or email inbox?

Answer: If you delete a voicemail on the phone or email inbox it will be moved to the deleted items section in Unity Voicemail as well as the email inbox. On an individual basis, deleted items will be permanently removed after {5} days and will not be retrievable.

---

Question: What happens if I move a voicemail to a sub-folder of my email inbox?

Answer: When you move a voicemail to a sub-folder of your email inbox the Unity voicemail system marks the voicemail as a saved item.

---

Question: What happens when I move a voicemail out of my inbox into a personal folder?

Answer: When you move a voicemail out of your inbox entirely and into a personal folder or archive the voicemail system moves it to the deleted items in the Unity voicemail system only.

---

Question: Are there any restrictions for the voicemail PIN?

Answer: Your voicemail PIN needs to be 6 digits in length and should not include a digit repeated in succession.
