Email: How to Make a Combined Inbox (Default Mail Apps)


A combined inbox allows you to centralize email accounts from multiple providers. Following are directions for using the default Mail apps already included on Windows 10 and Mac devices to connect to multiple email providers. If you find that these directions do not work on your device, please use the recommended Outlook client for accessing your DePaul email. If you are interested in setting up the combined mailbox in Outlook, please see these instructions.

Windows 10 Mail App

Link DePaul Account to Mail

If using the Mail app for the first time, follow these directions to add your DePaul account. If the Mail app has been used previously, follow the directions to “Link an Additional Account to Mail”
1. Open the Mail app
2. Select Office 365, Exchange from the list of account provider options
3. Enter the email address if prompted
4. Select Next
5. The window will redirect to DePaul’s Outlook login. Log in to link the account to Mail
6. If prompted, select Yes to add the account
7. Select Done

Link an Additional Account to Mail

1. Select Settings (gear icon)
2. Select Manage Accounts
3. Select Add Account
4. Select the account provider
5. Enter the email address if prompted
6. Select Next
7. The window will redirect to the account provider site. Log in to link the account to the Mail app
8. If prompted, select Yes to add the account
9. Select Done

View All Inboxes at Once

1. Select Settings (gear icon)
2. Select Manage Accounts
3. Select Link Inboxes
4. (Optional) Enter a name for the combined inbox
5. Select Save

Remove an Account

1. Select Settings
2. Select Manage Accounts
3. Select the account to remove from Mail
4. Select Delete

Mac Mail App

Link DePaul Account to Mail

If using the Mail app for the first time, follow these directions to add your DePaul account. If the Mail app has been used previously, follow the directions to “Link an Additional Account to Mail”
1. Open the Mail app
2. Select Exchange from the list of account provider options
3. Select Continue
4. A new window will open to enter DePaul credentials. Log in to link the account to Mail
5. (Optional) Select additional apps to link to the email address

Link an Additional Account to Mail

1. Select Mail from the application menu bar
2. Select Add Account
3. Select an account provider from the list of options
4. Select Continue
5. A new window will open for the account provider. Log in to link the account
6. (Optional) Select additional apps to link to the email address

View All Inboxes at Once

1. Select All Inboxes from the navigation panel

Remove an Account

1. Select Mail from the application menu bar
2. Select the account to remove
3. Select the minus sign
4. Select Ok
