How To Use the DVD Player in a Classroom Operations Room
This article explains how to use a Blu-Ray (DVD) player in a Classroom Operations room.
Some Classroom Operations Rooms are equipped with a Blu-Ray player. In most cases, the Blu-Ray player can play Blu-Ray discs, as well as DVDs and Compact Discs (CDs).
To use the Blu-Ray player with your Blu-Ray, DVD, or CD:
On Crestron:
- Turn on the Crestron Touch Panel
Press the large POWER button to turn on the touch panel. - Access the Home Screen and Select Video Output:
Once the Touch Panel is on, you will be directed to the Home Screen (refer to Figure 2). From this screen, press "VIDEO", then press "BLU-RAY".

After selecting the "Blu-ray" option, the Touch Panel will display the controls for the Blu-Ray player (refer to Figure 3). You can now use these controls to manage playback, adjust settings, and navigate through your multimedia content.

The volume of the video that is being played in the classroom via the Blu-Ray player can be adjusted through the volume controls on the Touch Panel (refer to Figure 4).

How to use Blu-ray on Q-SYS:
1. Turn on the Q-SYS Touch Panel
Press the small blue power button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Access the home screen and select Blu-ray Player
Tap the blue “Blu-ray Player” square as seen in picture below (Figure 5).

3. Control the Blu-ray Player
After selecting the “Blu-ray Player” option, the touch panel will display the controls for the Blu-ray player. You can now use these controls to manage playback, adjust settings, and navigate through your multimedia content. This is shown in the picture below (Figure 6).

4. Volume Adjustment
The volume of the video that is being played in the classroom via the Blu-ray player can be adjusted by using the sliding bar at the top of the screen on the left side.
Symbol Guide used across the Blu-Ray players:
1. Blu-ray Power ( ):
This button turns on and off the Blu-ray functionality.
2. Disc Menu ( ⫶☰ ):
This takes you to the disc menu which shows you where you can choose playing video, selecting scenes, changing subtitles or audio tracks, or opening any bonus features.
3. Captioning ( [CC] ):
This button will allow you to put captions on for your video.
4. Eject (⏏):
This control opens the tray to insert and remove the disc.
5. Play (►):
This control is used to start or resume playing the Blu-Ray video.
6. Pause (❚❚):
This control temporarily halts playback without stopping the Blu-Ray.
7. Stop (◼️):
This control is used to stop playback entirely. This will return the Blu-Ray player to the home screen.
8. Rewind (◁◁ ):
This button will take you backward in the video’s timeline if you want to rewatch a something that already passed.
9. Fast Forward ( ▷▷):
This control speeds up playback to skip ahead quickly.
10. Previous ( ⏮ ):
This control reverses playback to previous sections of the Blu-Ray.
11. Next ( ⏭ ):
This button will take you the next track or chapter on the disc.
Please note the following key details:
- HD-DVD and VHS are no longer supported.
- DVDs must be compatible with “Region 1” players.
- Blu-Rays must be compatible with “Region A” Players.
- Do not move the Blu-Ray player while it is operating.
