Although filters block many spam and phishing attempts, some malicious emails may still make it to DePaul inboxes. Information Services strongly recommends accessing your BlueM@il through a Microsoft Outlook app. There are three main app options: web app (bluemail.depaul.edu), Outlook desktop app, and Outlook mobile apps. These apps are available for Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android devices
Each of these Outlook app versions has an option to "Report Phishing" emails. It's incredibly helpful for DePaul community members to report suspicious phishing emails when they see them. This can alert the Security team to potential malicious emails and also reduce the risk that other DePaul students, faculty, or staff will be vulnerable to the same phishing attempt.
If you're confident that an email that you received is a phishing attempt, please use the steps on this page to report it in Outlook. If you're ever unsure, please don't hesitate to reach out to security@depaul.edu before engaging with the message in any way.
All versions of the Microsoft Outlook app have an option to report a phishing email. Most of the time, there are multiple buttons that will report phishing. When the malicious email is selected, please report the email using one of the following options, depending on your specific app.
